When the Dust Settles: The Stabilization Period
Nancy Hubbard
Chapter 6 in Acquisition, 1999, pp 165-174 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract There will come a time during the life of the acquisition process when those involved stop and think that the whirlwind changes and pace of the last few months is finally drawing to a close (see Figure 6.1). This time can be spent constructively appraising how well the acquirer’s management performed during the acquisition and what they could do better the next time. Unfortunately, most acquirers fail to assess their actions post-acquisition and as a consequence make many of the same mistakes in subsequent acquisitions rather than learning during the process.
