Discovering Your Values
Peter Wickens
Chapter 6 in Energise Your Enterprise, 1999, pp 97-107 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract While there will always be exceptions to the rule, particularly when an organisation is headed by a charismatic founder—entrepreneur or by a powerful change-agent chief executive, for the vast majority of us values are discovered and then expressed — they are not invented by a group of senior executives, nor can they be imposed on an unreceptive organisation. While, in the previous chapter, we have seen examples of companies that have attempted to define their values, the vast majority have not — but this does not mean that they do not have values.
