Chapter 1 in Rational Choice, 1999, pp 7-29 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract We address the problem of pure choice. We first set out the problem, propose a definition of a basic consistency requirement, that of reasonableness, and characterise the set of choice rules which are reasonable. We then define a stronger requirement, that of rationality, and characterise the choice rules which are rational. We conclude with a discussion of the relation between choice and utility.
