Growth and Productivity in the United Kingdom

K. S. Lomax

Chapter 2 in Economic Growth in Twentieth-century Britain, 1969, pp 10-33 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Interest in economic growth has developed considerably in recent years. It thus becomes important to measure rates of economic change. When this is done for an advanced country like the United Kingdom, productivity is of vital interest. In such a country prospects of any large increase in the labour force are remote and therefore the major part of any growth in national output must come from productivity increase.
