Wages and Labour
Bettina Berch
Chapter Chapter 6 in Economics: An Anti-Text, 1977, pp 89-101 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This basic conception is at the core of the economic theory of the distribution of wage income among people, and because the income distribution is one of the major issues which economic theory treats, it is important to go into this question further. Specifically, we will examine here the economists’ theories of wage differentials, or why some workers receive lower wages than other workers, and the economists’ theories of the wage-determination process itself. Coupled with the analysis in the following chapter of the determination of profits and the relation of profits to the income distribution, a more complete picture of the distribution of income — between workers and between labour and capital — should emerge.
