Chapter 3 in Top Management Control in Europe, 1980, pp 38-50 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, the criteria upon which the research design is based and the design itself are presented. For reasons discussed below, the latter includes local companies in three industrial sectors — electronics, textiles and engineering — in each of three countries: France, West Germany and Great Britain. Finally, the data collection process is described with emphasis on the selection of interviewees, the relationships between the variables selected in Chapter 2 (dependent and independent) and the measurement devices that have been used.
