Chapter 6 in Reversing Economic Decline, 1981, pp 144-166 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The roles which financial institutions set for themselves, or the roles set for them by governments and the money markets, vary considerably in different nations. This is not an insignificant matter, for the economic success or failure of a country may depend considerably on its investment record, which depends on the finance made available for investment, and this in turn largely depends on the role of financial institutions within the framework of government economic policy.
