Chapter 5 in Money and Employment, 1982, pp 101-147 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In the previous two chapters we have examined some of the issues relating to stabilisation policies, focussing particularly on the effects of changes in fiscal and monetary policy on inflation, employment and the balance of payments. For the sake of exposition we have assumed that the underlying growth potential of the economy was given, and that concern was with employment levels, inflation and the balance of payments along the growth path. Here we turn to a consideration of the determinants of the underlying rate of economic growth, and the nature of the interrelationship between short-term economic management and long-term economic development.
