Abstract: Abstract Capitalism, as we saw in the previous chapter, is not a particular form of property-holding nor a particular form of economic management but is essentially an impersonal economic mechanism; impersonal in the sense that it is a mechanism that operates independently of the will of people and imposes itself on them as an external force.
