Special Case Studies
Sanjaya Lall
Chapter 7 in Learning to Industrialize, 1987, pp 144-192 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews the findings of the six case studies of firms selected for their technological interest. Five of these are major manufacturing firms, each the market leader in its industry. One is an engineering consultant. Three firms are in the private sector, one being the only majority foreign-owned affiliate in the sample (and the largest foreign subsidiary in India). Three are in the public sector. The five manufacturing firms include the leading R&D performers, product exporters as well as technology exporters in India.
