Chapter 1 in Thinking about Credit, 1988, pp 1-4 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The author of this book has spent his working life in credit; first learning it, then practising it, most recently reviewing and trying to improve other people’s work. In the process he has learned that credit is easier than most people think if they approach it in the right way, almost impossibly hard if they do not. The right way requires a sense of curiosity; a sense of risk; a technical understanding of financial statements and accounting; a feel for how the nature of a company’s business affects the way it works; common sense; and the ability to look at the pieces as a whole.
