Chapter 10 in On Keynes’s Method, 1988, pp 173-193 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Keynes’s discussion with Tinbergen in the late 1930s represents a crucial point in the evaluation of his view on economics. Apart from the exchange with Harrod, concerning the method advanced by him in his ‘Scope and Method of Economics’ (CW XIV, letter to R. F. Harrod, 4 July 1938, pp. 295–7; Harrod, 1938), Keynes’s criticism of Tinbergen was his only open statement of his general methodological position toward economics.1
