Chapter 7 in Beyond the BBC, 1989, pp 99-123 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The Annan Committee was disparaging about broadcasting advisory bodies, reporting that one member of such a body had described it as ‘middle-class, middle-aged and middle-brow’. Ten years after the report was published this observation was still accurate. Although the BBC has made strenuous efforts to alter the composition of a number of its advisory bodies, they remain stubbornly white collar.
