Non-Tariff Barriers Facing Developing Country Exports

Chapter 9 in Developing Countries and the Global Trading System, 1989, pp 171-188 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The post-war period up to the early 1970s was one where trade liberalization, based principally on the dismantling of QRs and the reduction of tariff barriers, permitted substantial growth rates of international trade flows. The past decade has seen a proliferation of barriers to trade and despite general advocacy of governments for an improved and strengthened trade regime coupled with further liberalization, protectionism and other forms of trade intervention have tended to increase.
