Simple Rules for Policy Coordination: An Evaluation of Alternative Assignments

Patrizio Tirelli

Chapter 6 in Monetary and Fiscal Policy, the Exchange Rate and Foreign Wealth, 1993, pp 133-165 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter we evaluate the performance of some simple rules which have emerged from the debate on policy coordination, focusing on two alternatives already considered in Chapter 4: the target zones proposal and the reversed assignment. At this stage we carry out our policy experiments within the framework of a two-country model which explicitly accounts for interdependence between economies.
