Foreign Investment and Privatization in Poland

Wladyslaw Jermakowicz

Chapter 6 in Foreign Investment and Privatization in Eastern Europe, 1993, pp 156-172 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Although Poland has been a recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) since 1976, the real acceleration in FDI began after the first free elections of June 1989 and the ‘Big Bang — Balcerowicz Programme’ of January 1990. These political and economic factors influenced the new FDI legislation and dramatically improved the business climate.
