Empirical Results — the Classification of Competences
Kumiko Miyazaki
Chapter 5 in Building Competences in the Firm, 1995, pp 104-145 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The previous chapter examined factors affecting the rate and direction of competence building in firms. We discussed the competence-building pattern based on our analysis of the case studies of 10 firms. Optoelectronics-related competence building is an example of the marriage of a revolutionary technological opportunity with a firms’ cumulative competences. Firms view optoelectronics from different angles, and the areas on which they focus are shaped to a large extent by their previous accomplishments and accumulated competences.
