Beyond the Welfare State: Planning for a Welfare Society
Franco Archibugi
Chapter 11 in Comparative Welfare Systems, 1996, pp 215-237 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract It has been said by many that the enormous amount of discussion in the past decades concerning the welfare state has been accompanied by little knowledge of the actual subject.2 We do not know how little this knowledge has been, but without doubt it has been in our opinion a confused knowledge, exactly because of the overloading of analysis which has led to the loss of the essential aspects of the phenomenon.
