Abstract: Abstract Higher levels of stringency of environmental standards and regulations in the European Union (EU) make it difficult for Polish exporters to meet EU eco-labelling criteria at present. Current environmental initiatives in Poland may be seen as part of an attempt to bring Polish standards to conformity with those in the EU. This chapter briefly discusses the state of environmental legislation in Poland and the eco-labelling initiatives under way, and goes on to focus on the problems and possibilities presented by European eco-labelling schemes for Polish exporters of wood, footwear and textile products to EU.
