Chapter 8 in Trade Liberalization in Sri Lanka, 1998, pp 163-170 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Chapters 8 to 10 use the results of an enterprise survey in three industries undertaken by the author in 1988–89. The survey aimed to generate a data set for statistical and case studies on firm-level exporting behaviour in garments, light engineering and electronics. This chapter introduces the sample methodology and characteristics of the firms. Chapter 9 provides a number of hypotheses relating enterprise characteristics to export activity and the econometric results. Chapter 10 examines technological development and its determinants using case studies and econometric methods.
