Chapter 1 in Development Strategies in East Asia and Latin America, 1998, pp 1-14 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The postwar economic and social development experiences of East Asia and Latin America provide a fascinating opportunity to test development theories and learn more about the complex interrelationships that exist between economic and social policies. Although many analyses of these experiences have focused on economic performance, measured in purely economic categories, there is a clear need also to incorporate concepts and ideas from other areas, such as political science and sociology.
