Abstract: Abstract The history of economic thought on employment and development over the last half a century cannot be complete without reference to the contribution of Hans Singer. Between his early writings on the post-Recession crisis of unemployment in England, and recent reflections on employment within the context of globalization, there has been a continuous quest to set up the terms of the debate.
