Abstract:
Abstract The Prebisch-Singer hypothesis has been subjected to numerous econometric tests over the past forty years. As pointed out by Sapsford and Balasubramanyam (1994) this thesis has become in recent years more and more a playground for time-series statisticians who have used this thesis to present their latest and most advanced techniques to amazed audiences. Usually, logarithmic relative prices (or terms of trade) are regressed on a time trend applying time-series methods.2
