Abstract: Abstract The Slovak Republic (Slovenska Republika, or Slovakia) is a tiny landlocked country (48,845 sq km) that shares its borders with Austria (91 km) in the southwest, the Czech Republic (215 km) in the northwest, Hungary (515 km) in the south, Poland (444 km) in the north, and Ukraine (90 km) in the east.
