Abstract: Abstract We remain in the motel by the sea where the climate is under control and the inside is now fresh and cool. We now direct our attention to the bowl-like light fixture on the wall. There are two switches for this light: a switch by the door and a switch by the bed. This is the all too familiar dual light switch arrangement—two switches that operate the same light fixture. This arrangement confuses many, and we shall use it as a stage to consider the kinds of problems that exist in concurrent systems. You can see the layout of the motel room with the light fixture and the two switches in figure 6.1.
