Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents key information about the Greek tax system as well as the Greek political structure and state mechanism throughout the period examined in this study. The analysis focuses on the country’s constitutional arrangements, political system, as well as the system of public administration and civil service, which to a large extent were burdened by spoils and clientelist practices.
