Chapter Chapter 5 in Danish Capitalism in the 20th Century, 2022, pp 95-115 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter outlines the key features in the development of the Danish business and industrial community in the twentieth century. From its humble beginning as a small self-sufficient agricultural nation, still licking its wounds after being territorial disposed of its most fertile and profitable lands in nineteenth century’s destructive wars, to its recurrence as a leading nation in maritime trading and shipping, a global breadbasket, an innovator in sustainable energy solutions and a trendsetter with the characteristic Scandinavian minimalistic design-culture in furniture, toys, clothing, and electronics.
