Negotiated Exit and Crony Capitalist Connections—Ireland’s Modified Insurance Intervention
Emmet Oliver ()
Chapter Chapter 5 in Irish Nation Building, 2025, pp 149-183 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract As classically defined, the ‘structural’ power of business is said to revolve around its control over capital and this control then constraining governments and states. Small countries are said to be particularly vulnerable to forms of international factor mobility. Despite these assertions, capital-rich sectors such as insurance are rarely utilised to explore such ideas in business or economic history.
