Abstract:
Abstract The problem of property rights distribution in TVEs has always been a core issue in studies of TVEs and China’s economic transition and other related topics. The significance of the issue lies in the fact that for many years before the massive privatization of the mid-1990s, TVEs had been one of the major forces driving China’s rapid economic growth. Even after privatization, TVEs—on their broad definition (the definition followed in official statistical coverage after the mid-1990s)—still accounted for over 50 per cent of China’s industrial output as a whole.
