Chapter 12 in Consolidation in the European Financial Industry, 2010, pp 207-214 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The increase in the volume of cross-border securities transactions has drawn the attention of EU and national lawmakers to the need for a regulatory system capable of ensuring a high level of market integration. The aim is to eliminate the considerable costs and hazards which arise when the parties to or objects of transactions are subject to more than one regulatory system, often with significant differences both in the rules themselves and in the concepts which underlie them
