Abstract:
Abstract A central bank is usually defined by its functions: responsible for the nation’s currency as the issuer of base money, the bank of the state, the bankers’ bank and responsible for lender of last resort (and in addition to this, the central bank is sometimes also defined as the supervising authority of the banking/financial system).
