Chapter 13 in New Drivers of Performance in a Changing Financial World, 2009, pp 235-249 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Payment systems enable the transfer of funds between economic agents and efficient and reliable cross-border payments services are essential for the smooth functioning of markets. In the European market, large-value payment systems and cash are consolidating. In securities settlement systems, there have been some advances, but little progress has been made in terms of integrating retail payment systems.
