Chapter Chapter 1 in Bank-FinTech M&As and Banking Innovation, 2025, pp 1-12 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter highlights the strategic faction assumed by mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in the banking sector, emphasising their role in fostering innovation, improving operational efficiency, and broadening market reach. It focuses on M&A operations involving financial technology (FinTech) firms, which are identified as significant innovation drivers of traditional business models. According to this perspective, this chapter examines the evolution of banking business models (BBMs), emphasising their adaptation to digitalisation, regulatory changes, and competitive pressures. Finally, this chapter delineates the research objectives and provides a briefly description of the book’s structure.
