Chapter Chapter 2 in Business in Uncertainty, 2024, pp 23-46 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to address corporate sustainability maturity and provide an external assessment tool. This research proposes a methodology to measure corporate sustainability transition via four maturity levels: emergence, popularisation, formalisation and optimisation. Employing a qualitative inductive embedded multiple-case approach, the study utilises data triangulation through corporate websites, sustainability reports and interviews to support and complement existing literature on corporate sustainability transitions. The results of the case study on corporate sustainability maturity assessment contribute to sustainability transitions with knowledge on social and economic sustainability via social issue maturation. The proposed original methodology can be used in further research or applied in the organisations as a self-assessment tool.
