Chapter Chapter 7 in Vilfredo Pareto: An Intellectual Biography Volume III, 2020, pp 149-182 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Pareto’s wide-ranging and thought-provoking analysis of the post-war period started out from the idea that from the moment “the demagogic plutocracy had achieved a complete victory” in the recent war, “the battle between this force and out-and-out demagogy” had begun, with no means of foreseeing the outcome. This new confrontation was closely monitored by Pareto, with continuing reference to the conceptual tools developed in the Treatise on General Sociology, with the result, in his view, to be decided once again by “force”.
