Chapter Chapter 16 in A New Balance of Payments for the United States, 1790–1919, 2021, pp 299-309 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Marine-insurance payments and receipts are generated from marine insurance rates—with normal rate and war-risk differentiated, as well as sailing-ship versus steamship. Attention is paid to the role of British insurance companies in insuring U.S. exports. A series of bankers’ commissions relies heavily on predecessor work, but some improvement is made.
