Abstract:
Abstract Microfinance has long been considered a tool for economic development and poverty reduction (Ledgerwood, 1999; Morduch and Haley, 2002; and Khandker, 2003). Although there are several different perspectives of microfinance (Rhyne, 1998; and Robinson, 2001), it is commonly agreed that the central issue is how to provide financial services to the poor and low-income households on a sustainable basis (Rhyne, 1998; Robinson, 2001; and Gonzalez-Vega, 2003).
