Chapter 9 in Demography of Russia, 2017, pp 315-326 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This book has dealt with the phenomenon of domestic factors pertaining to Russia, such as birth rates, death rates, and interregional migration within the Russian Federation, which affect Russia’s total population and the regional distribution of its population. What has been ignored is the external factor of international migration, which mainly takes the form of migration between those countries that comprised the former Soviet Union, and the impact of this needs to be discussed.
