Abstract:
This work presents some evidence to explain the performance of the international liabilities of the commercial banks in Peru during the nineties as responding the behavior of the international interest rates and risk – country perception. In this way, the last episodes of international financial crisis changed the international investor’s attitude towards the now so - called emerging markets and from the Russian crisis in August 1998, the commercial banks found majors difficulties in access or renewing international credit lines.
