Abstract:
The adverse effects of extreme flooding caused by Typhoon Ondoy in Pasig and Marikina Cities in 2009 are significant. This paper estimates that both cities may have lost PHP 22.54 billion, 90 percent of which represent the loss of Pasig City. The study’s estimates are obtained using a multiweek, local economy computable general equilibrium analysis which assumes weekly market clearing. Some suggestions for improving the methodology are provided.
