Lo shipping, la cantieristica ed i porti nell'industria marittima

Alga Foschi ()

Discussion Papers from Dipartimento di Economia e Management (DEM), University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy

Abstract: Aim of the paper is a synthetic description of the maritime industry in terms of its principle components: shipping, shipyards and ports. Shipping and ports are the core of the maritime industry; the link between the shipyard industry and the maritime industry are represented by the vessels, that are the output of the shipyards and the main and specific capital inputs in the shipping industry. There exist many other industries linked to maritime shipping, such as insurances, leasing, scrapping, vessels second hand market, teaching, and so on, which are not here described. All these aspects belong to the enlarged definition of maritime industry.
