Poder de negociación intrafamiliar de las familias polacas
Intrahousehould bargaining power in polish families
Lorenzo Fau Naval
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
This paper analyzes the intrahousehold bargaining power in Polish families, in a collective framework. The EU-SILC database is used, which provides the set of data and variables necessary to explain the intra-family bargaining power of families in Poland. To measure bargaining power, labor supply equations are estimated, distinguishing between the two spouses, based on an income distribution rule and a set of economic and personal variables. Prior to these estimates, the salaries that will be used in the final model are predicted, to eliminate endogeneity problems. Finally, the results suggest that Polish families behave in the context of a cooperative model, although highlighting that housekeeping and childcare activities still exist a certain inequality between spouses.
