Abstract:
This paper examines the decisions that are carried out in Italian households to identify the bargaining power of these families. We carry out a descriptive and econometric analysis to demonstrate the effect of different factors in Italian households. The results suggest that women have a more altruistic behavior at home. They giving up their salary ratio to a greater extent when the family has more children for example. Meanwhile, husbands tend to keep their Jobs and their salary ratio. There is social and home inequality and it affects the relationship between work and family.
