The development labour intensive industry in ASEAN countries: an overview
Rashid Amjad
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
The overview analyses the results of the country studies undertaken by the ILO’s Asian Employment Programme with the aim of contributing to the evolution of a policy framework for labour intensive development for ASEAN. These country study results are examined in the context of the industrialization debate in the 1970s and 1980s for import-substitution industrial growth versus export-led growth with much greater reliance on market forces and an open economy.
