Inversión extranjera y compra masiva de tierras
Foreign investment and massive land purchase

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
Recent trends in foreign investment and massive purchase of land in the world indicate that developing countries concentrate the largest proportion of hoarding. Although some advanced countries acquire land, it is not clear that they become major investors. The article highlights the existence of three types of hoarding: direct purchase, lease and concession and, from these, a conceptual framework associated with game theory to understand the incentives of investors to land hoarding is presented. The proposed framework is useful to review the Colombian experience.
