Emilie Franková

Ekonomika a Management, 2009, vol. 2009, issue 1

Abstract: The aim of the paper is to show possible relations between an economic crisis and the development of burn-out syndrome in managers and entrepreneurs. The current economic environment is characterized, and burn-out syndrome is described as well as its possible causes, manifestations and stages. Further, several specific features of managerial jobs which contribute to the development of the burn-out syndrome are presented. The paper also provides information on the possible burn-out prevention including a list of significant protective factors and activities using which managers can lower the level of their work stress and thus prevent the development of the syndrome.
