Abstract:
The Czech economy is a small, open economy. The level of its openness can be characterized also by the high share of foreign nationals who are economically active on the Czech labour market. The current economic recession also had, of course, substantial influence on their numbers. In the first part, the paper briefly analyzes the number of economically active foreigners in the Czech Republic. In the following parts, the focus is only on foreigners registered at employment bureaus. The development of their numbers is being connected with the development on the Czech labour market, i.e. with numbers of the unemployed and of free work positions. The registered foreigners are analyzed from various points of view: according to their sex, country of origin, and according to their territorial location in the Czech Republic.
