Comparing Profit and Nonprofit Institutions as Organizational Units

Abstract:
The main objective of the contribution is to compare nonprofit organizations and profit firms as organizational units. For the comparison an organizational model in a static environment was used. On behalf of comparison a typical characteristics for nonprofit organizations are specified and analyzed its effect on organizational effectiveness. Nonprofit organizations are different legal persons (associations and foundations) comparing to profit firms (corporations), have miscellaneous missions, the basic characteristics of nonprofit organizations are therefore diversity a value-orientation. But, effectiveness could be considered as economic value and commitment of organization towards effectiveness could by influenced by managerial processes or strong organizational culture. From organizational point of view the profit firms and nonprofit organizations do not differ.
