Abstract: [eng] The economic role of private equity . The financial market crisis and restructuring of financial capitalism will profoundly change the role, importance, status and development of private equity funds. The changes will specifically affect the financing conditions governing large-scale LBOs, resulting in an increase in private equity deals of a more modest magnitude. In a nutshell, the crisis will lead to the overhaul of this type of financing, one that will go so far as to give it a major role in the restructuring of the production infrastructure of the major developed economies. . JEL Classification : G11, G23, G24 [fre] La crise des marchés financiers et la réorganisation du capitalisme financier modifieront profondément le rôle, l’importance, le statut et le développement du private equity. . Les changements affecteront en particulier les conditions de financement des grandes opérations de LBO et s’accompagneront du renforcement des opérations de capital investissement de taille plus modeste. En un mot, la crise va entraîner globalement un renforcement très significatif de ce type de financement de l’économie, jusqu’à lui donner un rôle majeur dans la restructuration du tissu productif des grandes économies développées. .
