Abstract: [eng] The Dollar and the Failure of the Growth Model Based on Information and Domestic Services . The United States have put in place since the 1990's a bipolar model of productive specialization : development of information technologies and of services protected from the competition of emerging countries ; contraction of manufacturing. The crisis reveals the failure of this model : without a constant increase in private debt, it leads to slow growth, to trade deficits which are impossible to correct, hence, potentially, to a substantial weakening of the dollar. . Classification JEL : F14, F4 [fre] Les États-Unis ont mis en place depuis les années 1990 un modèle de spécialisation productive bipolaire : développement des nouvelles technologies et des services protégés de la concurrence des pays émergents ; amaigrissement important de l'industrie. La crise révèle l'échec de ce modèle : sans la hausse des taux d'endettement, il génère une croissance faible, il implique l'apparition de déficits extérieurs impossibles à corriger, donc potentiellement, un grand affaiblissement du dollar. .
